I am excited at the opportunity to collaborate with Catherine Debrocke and her team to digitally plan and execute "The Wave"; a permanent public mosaic mural that will be installed during the summer of 2025.
The mosaic mural will consist of thousands of community made tiles hand built out of high fire clay by members of the surrounding communities. We are actively firing hundreds of tiles each week to prepare for a June installation.
Catherine and her students at the River Valley Charter School in Newburyport held a contest to design a mural under the theme “Building a Better World”.
Each stripe in the winning design holds a theme and call for action .

Location of the mural installation.
Amesbury, MA.
The first proposal was a rough sketch of what I imagined to catch the attention from the nearby road. Strengthening the outlines with large, uniform rectangle tiles would provide geometric structure to the various tiles that were already underway in Catherine's community workshops and still remain true to the original drawing. Keeping each color section open would provide a space to place the diverse and vibrant tiles created throughout the community.
We are currently in the process of finalizing the design plan, creating tiles, picking out glaze colors, and preparing the brick wall for a June installation.
